I’m ridiculously behind in blogging! Seems Facebook as taken over my blogging time! Ritu & Markus had a lovely day that combined both of their backgrounds. The day started with a Christian ceremony at Graham Chapel on the campus Washington University. After portraits, they celebrated their wedding with a traditional Indian ceremony at the Airport Marriott, reception followed in the ballroom. This wedding was part of my winning submission for the St. Louis Wedding Award in Photography in February.

Ritu & Markus – married!
Kate & Nick – married!
My apologies for falling off the blogging wagon last year. I’m back and ready to catch up! First up is the lovely summer wedding of Kate & Nick… married at First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood with reception at The Edge of Webster.
My current favorite dress photo.

*Love* the shoes.

This is exactly how I was when getting my own veil attached. (Big surprise, right?)

The veil was worn by Kate’s mom and has been worn by other family members. And it’s stunning.

Nice moment with dad. These two, cut from the same cloth, I think they were both trying to tell the other they weren’t nervous.
Kate parents were also married at Kirkwood Presbyterian and have a very similar photo.
One of my favorite things at all the weddings I shoot is seeing the day through the eyes of the couple’s parents. Could Kate’s dad (Mike) be any happier?! Such a great moment.

Kate & Nick – thank you so much for sharing your day with me! I can not wait to meet the bambino!
Just one last shot. I absolutely love that I get to record moments like these for people (in this case, Nick’s parents).
Henry!
In February I photographed Louis. And a few weeks ago, Louis returned to me with his entire family in tow! Big brother Henry just turned 5 so special pictures were in order and why not a family portrait too!
We started out a little shy….
Not Louis though…
Seriously, how cute are these boys? They could get anything out of me with these faces…
See what happens when I let parents take a break!
This is a very ‘Henry’ look. He’s very (very) smart. When I see this I wonder what kind of complex issue could he be analyzing?
And then, sometimes he’s just a cute, sweet little boy.
What a good looking family! Well done Tricia!
And Henry is a great big brother.
He may have started out shy, but we certainly didn’t warp the session that way!
Tricia, thank you so much for letting me photograph your family. The boys are beautiful! Best! Beckie
Free baby sessions!
Once again I’m offering free baby sessions during the month of February to all babies under the age of 1. Sessions will be at my studio or in your home. After the initial in-studio viewing images will be put online for 3 months. So save that session fee and spend it on reprints!
Until you get photos of your own little bambino, enjoy these images from last year’s free-ness!
Baby Grace!
Another former bridal client’s baby! I photographed Jennifer & Chris’ wedding in November of 04, before I was even a mom! Tonight my kiddos got to oh & ah over their baby Grace. How cool? So cool.
Favorite!!
Another favorite….
And I love seeing my clients interact… still great friends. Yes, it’s a favorite.
Jennifer & Chris: thank you, thank you! I look forward to continuing to watch your family grow! Congratulations! Best, Beckie
Madison – senior photos!
This afternoon I shot Madison’s senior portraits. We started at Laumeier Sculpture Park and ended in downtown Kirkwood. We hit many of my favorite locations in these two areas. Below are just a few images. I’ll post more this week.

Possibly my favorite. (below) I love the light.

Madison, thanks for being such a great sport and thank you so much for asking me to shoot your portraits! I hope you have an awesome year. We’ll talk soon, Best – ie
1886th – deployed.
This morning I photographed the departure (to Iraq) of the 1886th medical Army Reserve unit. This started with a simple offer of family photographs to help both the soldiers & their families cope while apart. In the end, everyone involved agreed that they’d really like photos of their final goodbyes. What follows is a small collection from this morning.

Patrick Crader & his son Jackson watched airplanes (above) and shared a snack (below).

The next one is tied for favorite. If I had to say goodbye to Denny for a year, I’d want this photo of us so I could remember his hand on my knee and my head on his shoulder. This is Captain Britton & his girlfriend Kathy (both nurses!).

I admire these families so much. This kind sacrifice & hardship is something I’ve never known and they still step up and do the best they can with it. Incredible.

I love this one too… (BTW, this is Tina & Wayne, my couple).

Keith Sanders had several little ones to say goodbye to.

Then final goodbyes started, here are a couple…

Patrick saying goodbye to his wife Nikki. Nikki’s mom is holding their 4 month-old son (Cooper) in the background. This is my other favorite.

One of the last photos I shoot at a wedding is a hand-held shot of me with the bride & groom. I shot Tina & Wayne’s wedding (last fall) so today before we went into the airport I grabbed one more hand-held. Tina & Wayne; thanks for indulging me on this one, I can’t wait to shoot another when Wayne returns. And to the rest of the 1886th and all your families; thank you for letting me be a part of this – I am truly honored to create these photos for you all. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed making them. Stay safe and I look forward to your return – I’m counting the days. Best, ie

What didn’t run…
Okay, here are some of my favorite images that didn’t run from the Cathedral / STL Bride Magazine shoot. Huge thank you to everyone who has called & emailed, your support and enthusiasm humbles me! (I know that sounds dramatic but it’s the word I feel, so there.) Best, ie

And here are the nine image that did make the cut.

Check it out!
Here’s my big news! In October I did a fashion shoot for St. Louis Bride Magazine at the New Cathedral. The NEW CATHEDRAL! How cool is that!?? It was just published in the Spring / Summer issue (now on news stands). Although my spread did not make the cover, I’m over the moon with the piece. So, here’s what ran….

Opening spread…. love it.

The image on the left is my absolute favorite. Nothing says majestic like an ornate gold ceiling.

Contributors page… Hair & Make-up was done by Melissa Steele at Neo Hair Salon in Olivette, coordination by Sarah Grus. Pam Bredenkamp of Signature Studio is also on our page, she photographed a piece about cakes that coordinate with dresses, very fun. I mentioned that I didn’t have the cover; that honor went to Jon Koch who did a fabulous job with the fairytale weddings piece.
Finally, when Jane saw me shooting the magazine, she naturally wanted to help. So I let her…

But then she really wanted to be involved….

Such a helper. Anyway, this was a big deal for me. It’s the first fashion spread I’ve shot and the ONLY time the Cathedral has been used for a photo shoot, period. I was honored to have the gig. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Tomorrow I’ll post some of my favorites that didn’t run! Until then, go grab a copy – Borders & Schnucks are your best bets.
Best, ie
