Fr. Driscoll’s First Mass

Fr. Driscoll officiated his first Mass Last Sunday at the Shrine of St. Joseph in downtown St. Louis. The Church started allowing girl servers long after I was in that age group so I’ve never seen any of the prep work for a Mass. So this was a pretty neat experience for me. Fr. Driscoll is a photographer’s dream; he put no restrictions on my access and really allowed me to document the process. He’s a really great guy. So here we go, on to photos.

Going over last minute details.

I like this shot a lot.

Just before the processional.

View from the balcony, big & beautiful.

Although he did not give the homily (that was done by the pastor of St. Joe), Fr. Driscoll did address the congregation.

After Mass, many people received first blessings.

After Mass I took a little “me time” and wandered around the area with my camera.

Ok, seriously, how could I resist this photo? This is Maggie, one of Fr. Driscoll’s (many) nieces, she’s a girl after my own heart! I think she even got a shot of me with her mom!

Driscoll family, thanks so much for sharing your weekend with me! I really enjoyed the entire experience. Best to you all! – ie

Ordination 2008

This weekend has been busy to say the least. I shot the ordination of 9 priests Saturday, the first mass of one of those priests Sunday and another mass this morning. I shot the Ordination primarily for Fr. Driscoll, a priest who served at my church (St. Mark’s), but, we have connections to a few other priests so I shot them too. Below are a few shots from the Ordination. Tomorrow I’ll post some images from Fr. Driscoll’s first Mass. His first Mass was beautiful by the way… for now, here’s the Ordination at the Basilica. More images are viewable via my website in the portrait albums section.
Enjoy – ie

Parker at the park!

Parker is one of the babies from my moms group. She’s right between my two kids in age, so she’ll turn 2 this year. We went to a park near my house and had so much fun. I’m always fascinated by how other mom’s interact with their kids… I usually end up wishing I would’ve thought to do what they do. Parker’s mom Cherie had the (clever) idea of using treats to teach the concept of right & left. So when she hands Parker a cookie, she says “One for your left hand and one for your right hand.” And she goes toward the correct hand when she says each word. I’m totally going to use that on Griffin. Cherie kept saying that Parker loves the slide… each time Parker would go down the slide, she’d turn to us and say “Just one more” then go back for another round! It was hilarious! Cherie & Parker, thanks for playing with me! Next time we’ll let my kids join us! Below are just a few, I’ll get an album up soon in the albums section of my website. I’ll post a note here when it goes up. Thanks for being patient with me as I integrate this blog into my regular communication.
